About Us

Consortium for Cultural Diversity in Chemistry

CCDC is a cultural diversity group highlighting all marginalized groups and communities at UC. Below is our 2024-2025 Board where we represent a pillar of our community or a need. We welcome all graduate students in our department to be part of the organization through engagement in events, involvement in planning, or being a board member for one of our important pillars. We work close with offices such as UC Women's Center, LGBTQ+ Center, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion along with professional societies of chemistry like the American Chemical Society and NOBCChE.

Our Story

Dr. DeVonna Gatlin established CCDC in 2014 at the University of Cincinnati with Dr. James Mack, a Full Professor of chemistry, with the main purpose of providing underrepresented individuals a platform to excel in their respective scientific fields and to become mentors for generations to follow. Her mission was to promote diversity and inclusion in the sciences involves creating a pipeline from elementary to high school including undergraduates to encourage advancement towards college, graduate school and beyond with the following core values of Diversity in Chemistry/STEM, Member Professional Development and Outreach: Youth to Undergraduates. This mission stays to our core values.
